Writer: Robert John Crizaldo, Telegrafico Researcher: Rosha Mai Shaheena Salas, Telegrafico Held on September 12 at STI College Global City, the Talent Search breathed life to the Gymnasium as talents and skills were put to the test. Just like every year that came before, the Hataw Sayaw competition brought the heat on stage. Competing groups showcased not only their dance skills, but also their determination and teamwork.
Several participants revealed that limited preparation time was their biggest challenge. John Gabriel Sanchez and Ronald Gundao Jr. from the group "Yinyang" shared that they struggled to form their team and execute the choreography. Despite the challenges, they have managed to deliver their piece with ease.
The group "SG: Mermaids", led by Jae Montoya, prepared for only five days but expressed high confidence, drawing inspiration from 1990s Japanese cartoons. “Trust your co-members,” Montoya emphasized as the key lesson from their short but powerful journey.
Meanwhile, "Tourism Vibes" members Paul Urmenita and Kurt Gaddi cited time management as their toughest hurdle, balancing schoolwork with rehearsals. Despite setbacks, they remained confident and focused on entertaining the audience.
Overall, even when faced with challenges, the event highlighted students' creativity, sacrifice, and camaraderie, proving that Hataw Sayaw is more than just a competition—it is a celebration, and a dance of passion.
